Dieter Franke, Regional General Manager of IHG Egypt & North Africa, Announces the Appointment of Mr. Ahmed Kamel as Hotel Manager of InterContinental Cairo Citystars

Dieter Franke, Regional General Manager of IHG Egypt & North Africa, has recently announced the appointment of Ahmed Kamel as the new Hotel Manager of InterContinental Cairo Citystars, effective 1st October 2024. Kamel brings over 24 years of extensive experience in the hospitality sector, having held various leadership positions in renowned international brands across cities such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Beijing, Hong Kong, Alexandria, and Makkah.

 

Known for his luxury global culture mindset and commitment to quality and continuous improvement, Kamel has a rich background in operational excellence. He has previously been part of the leadership teams at InterContinental Doha The City, Crowne Plaza Dubai SZR, Crowne Plaza & Staybridge Suites Yas Island, and Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi. Additionally, he has supported the IHG corporate office in Dubai, focusing on Quality Assurance and brand standard validation in IMEA region.

 

Kamel holds a bachelor’s degree and an MBA in hotel management as well as international relations and diplomacy. Most recently, he served as General Manager for a prestigious group of hotels in Makkah, where he successfully oversaw operations under a semi-government entity. Additionally, he played a crucial role in leading the pre-opening of a highly anticipated hotel and residence in Abu Dhabi, managed by the National Corporation for Tourism & Hotels (NCTH).

 

Notably, Ahmed was the first president and founder of the national chapter of the AICR Organization in the GCC. He has received a global leadership award and has participated in international congresses in Zurich, Vienna, London, Dubai, and Doha.
